그림으로 연상해서 기억하는 29회차 Vocabulary 입니다

미국 Media(TV, Radio, Movie, Talk Show, Drama 등)에서 나오는 실용적인 Vocabulary 위주입니다. 스피킹(회화) 및 리스닝을 위해 필요한 Vocabulary를 그림과 실 대화 장면으로 더욱 유용하게 익힐 수 있습니다. 낯설은 표현을 접할때면 이런게 정말 실제로 사용되는지 의아하게 생각되곤 하는데, 이런 실제 사용되는 단어들을 clip과 함께 반복해서 들으면 익숙해져 나의 쉬운 단어로 만들어 사용할 수 있고 원어민 영어를 청취할때도 쉽게 이해할 수 있습니다.

 

 

1. lament [lə^|ment]

한탄하다

to express sadness and feeling sorry about something

Talyor의 Kanye와의 관계에 대해서 설명하는 연예뉴스 clip입니다.

Taylor는 그녀의 명성에 해를끼치는 (Kanye의) 마녀사냥에 애통해 하고 있죠. 최소한 그녀의 가슴에 상처를 입혔다는 것이죠

~를 들락거리다

come and go from or to a place

주인공의 전남편과의 결혼식 내용에 대해 얘기하고 있는 영화 clip입니다

(혼인신고 한다고) 법원에 들락거리면서 식당일 하러 가곤 했었지

뻔한, 노골적인

very obvious and intentional

이건 뻔한 거짓말이죠. Calvin은 (그 음반작업을) 자기 업적으로서 독식했고, 이 때문에 Talyor와 헤어지게 되었다는 얘기가 있죠

빠르게 지나가다

허리케인 Harvey가 미국에 상륙했을때 보도한 뉴스 clip입니다.

Harvey barrelled ashore overnight packing 130 mile an hour winds and blinding sheets of rain and the treacherous storm surge

Harvey는 시속 130마일의 강풍과 앞이 보이지 않는 호우, 맹렬한 폭풍우를 동반하면서 밤새 해안가로 빠르게 지나갔습니다

위험한, 불안정한

If the ground or sea is treacherous, it is extremely dangerous, especially because of bad weather conditions
